Village Development Committee, Darri

HDFC-CSR-HRDP Dhamtari Project has planned for the community Orchard in the month of August, 2018. The village selected for the Orchard is Darri. Total HH of the village is 262 and population 1396. There is a fallow land located very close to the village. The villagers have strong unity and all are following to the Village Development Committee (VDC). Therefore, GVT personnel have decided to discuss the proposal with villagers and they have gladly agreed with the proposal. Then the villages have suggested for the VNR nursery is very reputed for guava sapling. This guava identified as seed less guava in market and its weight minimum .5kg to .9 kg. It is very testy and rate is high according to other verities.

As per the request from GVT, Forest Dept. has given cement poles and weir for boundary. The villagers have done the boundary, pit digging earth filling and planted the saplings. Each family have involved and given labour contribution. They all have contributed money and stalled bore well with drip Irrigation for supply water to the plants. Total community contribution was approximate Rs. 3,87,500/-, Govt. contribution Rs. 1,50,000/- and HDFC bank contribution Rs. 1,19,250/-. This is a three- tier system of contribution – Government, Village HDFC Bank/GVT.MAL; Mrs Ranjan Sahu has come on first for inauguration.

Total 750 nos. saplings, namely guava -500, jack fruit -100, lemon -100 and limu – Kagzi -50 have planted in that field and 4 acres of land have covered under this Orchard.  Every day, two/three people from the village are rotationally guiding the Orchard. All the precaution has taken by the villagers. Therefore, this program becomes a sustainable once and after harvest, the profit will go to the VDC accounts. Moreover, that money will invest for the development of the village. Over all the VDC is taking the major role for the future maintenance.
