Capacity Building & Training

The component of capacity building finds its place in almost all the projects that GVT has undertaken till date like watershed projects, WADI, agricultural research projects, health projects etc.

GVT organizes various awareness campaigns, training programmes and exposure visits during the project cycle for the target beneficiaries of the programmes. It frequently conducts various training programmes for the state government officials and their agencies at its respective institutes and offices. It has partnered with Ministry of Panchayati Raj for preparation of perspective plans and annual plans for 22 districts in the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal. GVT acts as the Technical Support Institution TSI, to the Panchayat functionaries as well.

Self Help Groups

Gramin Vikas Trust has implemented two flagship Rainfed Farming Projects in Western India and Eastern India titled as Western India Rainfed Farming Project (WIRFP) and Eastern India Rainfed Farming Project (EIRFP).. Communities were organized into Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and the groups were empowered to plan and implement the programs. The groups were able to access the project funds based on their actual needs and plans and the beneficiaries were identified by the group members. An appreciable number of SHGs were formed in the project areas.  SHGs generated an appreciable amount of savings, and the total Group Fund Generated through different enterprise activities were in crores.

In the post DFID period, GVT started building institutions in its activity areas comprising agriculture, natural resource management including watershed development, agroforestry, skill development and many more. Till date, GVT has implemented 23 Homestead Farming Projects in the name of WADI funded by NABARD. T

Social Entrepreneurship

GVT sees Social Entrepreneurship as the process of bringing about social change on a major scale. GVT as Social entrepreneur function as a change maker, questioning the status, grabbing the new yet overlooked opportunities, and creating the opportunities for the betterment of marginalized communities. They recognize when a section of the society is stuck and offer innovative ways to break out of its stagnant state.

Trainings 

The experience of GVT’s training activity has been instrumental in influencing the training policies at the state and the national level. GVT believes that individuals, groups have capacities inherited through culture, socialization or experiences or acquired through education or training. 

GVT conducts long duration training programs such as “Agriculture Engineering Programme”, 90 days residential training programme for the functionaries of watershed implementing agencies as well as short duration specialized training programs (3 to 7 days) such as a Training on Agriculture development in watershed project, women’s participation in Natural Resource Development, SHG concept and promotion, Training of Trainers (TOT), Attitude and Behaviors change, Participatory Irrigation Management (PIM) for Irrigation Department Engineers etc.

The training programmes on agricultural productivity enhancement are conducted under one roof at its National Livelihood Resource Institute, NLRI at Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh & Krishi Vigyan Kendra, at Godda in Jharkhand.

The placement linked Skill development training is conducted at four construction skill training centers at Jehenabad in Bihar, Bero in Jharkhand, Balasore in Odisha and Dhamtri in Chhattisgarh. 

Our Key Stakeholder for Training

Tribal

This is a project under Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana (Chiefs Minister’s Ten Point Programme), Govt. of Gujarat for skill up gradation of the tribal workers on construction related trades who are engaged in construction. 1301 beneficiaries have been trained on Masonry, Shuttering Carpentry & Bar Bending and Plumbing Trades. Under this project 449 women have been covered. After the training program trained workers are earning good wages by taking small contracts and assignments. 1301 beneficiaries trained in 24 villages of Dhanpur & Garbada Taluka who are now engaged in Construction sector.

Farmers

Training on Farmer’s Managed Mini Soil Testing Kit to train and educate rural youths to learn the economics of soil nutrient and fertilizer supplement for better income through agriculture over traditional knowledge and practices. 60 young professionals have been trained through these training.

Migrants and Labors

The Bamboo Craft project envisaged the livelihood promotion of the rural poor through the promotion of viable business propositions. Promotion of traditional bamboo crafts with technical and marketing support of GVT was scaled up in the rural areas of Jharkhand with the integrated efforts of government organizations, NGOs and private players. The project was implemented successfully on a pilot scale in Dahu village in the district of Ranchi.

Mission Mangalam Skill Development Programme has trained more than 323 candidates till date with placement to 233 candidates from SC/ ST communities so far under 13 training batches of Masonry Trade. The program was funded by Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company (GLPC), Govt. of Gujarat with an outlay of Rs. 74.45 lakhs for a duration of one year.

Women

Formation of Self Help Groups, Pratapgarh, Kota, Baran and Banswara in Rajasthan funded by NABARD, this project seeks to promote and provide credit linkage to the SHGs in 500 villages in 4 districts of Rajasthan. Major activities under this project are capacity building of the SHGs, promoting group dynamics, training on financial management, providing credit linkages, hand holding support for group cohesion, bookkeeping, audit etc. A total of 1590 beneficiaries have been covered and 108 SHGs have been formed till now in four districts.

TIE & DYE Training to rural craftswomen on various activities like capacity building, skill up gradation training and design development training is provided to the candidates. Project has covered 500 Artisans and 25 SHGs till date.   

Youth

Employment Linked Skill Training Programme in Rajasthan and Haryana to 20,000 candidates in hospitality, computer hardware and construction trade for a period of three months and provided the trainee placements with construction companies on successful completion of the training with certification from NCVT.

Skill and Entrepreneurial Development Training Project funded by National Handicapped Finance Development Cooperation (NHFDC) with an outlay of Rs. 16.80 lakh for providing training to 140 differently able youth on Basic computer, Desktop Publication and Computer hardware in order to provide opportunity for gainful employment and improvement of their livelihoods.   

Local Institutions and Governing Bodies

GVT has been working tirelessly with the village Panchayats by implementing various centrally and state sponsored schemes. It has been working closely with the Panchayat functionaries on various issues related to the up-liftment of the marginalized communities. Ministry of Panchayati Raj has been a longstanding partner of GVT and has awarded several assignments which have been implemented in GVT’s operational areas.  In 2000-10, MoPR identified GVT as the Gateway Agency for facilitation of the Rural Business Hub, RBH in Ranchi and Deoghar districts of Jharkhand and Birbhum district of West Bengal.

In partnership with MoPR and under the scheme Rastriya Gram Swaraj Yojna (RGSY) GVT has implemented two capacity building projects for the Elected Panchayat Representatives (EPRs). The project was implemented in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh and in Baran district of Rajasthan.  In Ratlam district, a total of 1150 Elected Panchayati Representatives (EPRs) were trained through 65 training programme and 872 (EPRs) were trained in Baran district of Rajasthan.

Mobile Van Training Program This project is funded by the Ministry of Labour, Government of Rajasthan. The main objective of this project is to promote rural livelihood by conducting various employable skills related training programmes for the unemployed youths as per the guidelines formulated by Rajasthan Mission on Skill and Livelihoods. A total of six villages have been covered and 238 candidates have been trained so far.

Capacity building of Ward Members of Panchayat under RSPSA, Ranchi provided capacity building training at bloc level in different batches. Project aimed at training 4000 ward members on the functioning of PRI and their associated responsibilities. Activities also included development of village/panchayat planning & budgeting
